If you want to be technical about it...The basa fish, Pangasius bocourti, is a type of catfish in the family Pangasiidae. Basa are native to the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam and Chao Phraya basin in Thailand.

If you want to talk 'foodie' about basa....YUMMIE! It's meaty, but not as fishy as catfish. And I know my daughters do not like the 'gray' parts of the catfish.

We eat basa roughly once a week in our home...sometimes twice. Prepared simply with olive oil, garlic salt and finished with some white wine in the skillet.
